Edward Olds graduated from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law in 1976. While in law school, and for 6 years after his graduation, he worked for Neighborhood Legal Services Association (NLSA), first as a law student, then as an attorney with a general practice and finally
with a concentration in consumer and constitutional law. He managed several neighborhood offices comprising of 4 to 6 lawyers during this time, as well. Notable cases included challenges to debt collection practices of the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency, and appellate cases construing the Pennsylvania Deficiency Judgment Act, the Land Sale Installment Act and Act 6.
After leaving NLSA he developed a general practice which he pursued for the next 10 years. He represented clients in the areas of commercial law, bankruptcy, employment law and constitutional law. His practice was varied and involved cases in practically every area of civil law.
As his practice continued to develop, he began to concentrate more in the areas of employment law, constitutional law and educational law. During this period of time, he litigated constitutional issues spanning retaliation against public employees, first amendment rights of fraternity members, prisoner rights cases and voting rights.. He has represented women faculty members and students in cases under Title IX cases including proportionality of opportunities for women to engage in interscholastic sports and sexual harassment of faculty members and students. His practice involving employment cases covered a broad spectrum of employment law issues, including hostile work environment, race, gender and age discrimination, the ADA, ERISA , > FLSA , restrictive covenants, and retaliation. He has been involved in hundreds of federal cases and has tried over 20 business, employment law or constitutional law cases to juries. He has been involved in numerous appeals, as well.


 
Currently, his case load involves discrimination cases, retaliation cases against both private and governmental employers, cases representing government contractors in disputes with governmental entities, representing students in Title IX cases against school districts, and litigating cases under ERISA and the Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act. Olds continues to handle constitutional cases involving the First and Fourteenth Amendments to the United States Constitution.
His attention is directed at providing professional representation aimed at solving clients problems. He heads a practice which focuses on providing attention to the needs of individual clients, and which emphasizes problem solution. Many of his clients come to him with employment or educational issues involving their current employer or school. He works through issues and problems associated with this dynamic by listening to his client and ascertaining the best solution for each client.
He is an avid gardener, golfer, cook and reader in his spare time. He has three grown children, one of whom is currently attending law school, a second is in graduate school studying international affair and a third is currently in Zambia, Africa, in the peace corp.
